Clarke Phillips founded Cinema Sense in 2023. Clarke received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Filmmaking from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) with a concentration in Film Directing. While attending UNCSA, Clarke directed four narrative short films, Condoned Fears, You Know His Name, Suga Brown, and one documentary In Her Absence. Since graduating, Clarke has volunteered as a film judge for the 2023 National Association of the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Awards. In the summer of 2023, Clarke participated in the NAACP Cinematic Shorts Competition where she co-directed the short documentary The Son That Didn't Shine. Based in North Carolina, Clarke is currently working in partnership with Chromatic Black to finish post-production on her latest film Sweet Pea. Clarke's work is often inspired by her lived experiences as well as past and present events involving marginalized groups in America. As her career grows, she will continue to highlight underrepresented communities.
